Garage Door Opener Installation in Attleboro, MA

A new opener can make an old door quieter, safer and easier to use. We install garage door openers for Attleboro homes and make sure the door is balanced first, because an opener shouldn't lift a heavy door.

When a new opener is worth it

Consider a new opener when:

  • The old opener has no photo-eye safety sensors.
  • It is loud enough to hear through the house.
  • Parts for it are no longer available.
  • You want smartphone control or battery backup.
  • The garage has limited headroom for a ceiling unit.

Chain, belt and wall-mount openers

Chain and belt drive

Mounted to the ceiling with a rail to the door. Chain is durable and economical. Belt drive is much quieter, a good choice under a bedroom.

Wall-mount (jackshaft)

Mounted beside the door on the torsion shaft. It frees the ceiling and suits low headroom or high-lift doors.

Why the door is checked first

An opener is sized to guide a balanced door. If the springs are worn, a new opener will strain and wear out early.

We check spring balance, cables and rollers before fitting the opener, then set travel limits and close force for the door.

Cold garages and batteries

Some openers offer battery backup, useful during a winter power cut when the car is inside.

Keypads and sensors are mounted where snow and slush won't block them.

Safety

Safety sensors are not optional

Every new opener has photo-eye sensors near the floor that stop and reverse the door if something crosses its path. They must be installed and aligned correctly and tested before the job is done.

How opener installation works with us

  1. Check the door

Confirm the door is balanced and moves freely.

  2. Mount

Fit the opener, rail or wall unit, and brackets.

  3. Wire safety

Install and align the photo-eye sensors and wall control.

  4. Program

Set limits and force, pair remotes and keypad, and test auto-reverse.

Repair the old opener instead?

If the old opener has safety sensors and parts are available, a repair may be enough. See opener repair for common fixes.
